What’s the work that you do?

I work as an underwater camera person/camera assistant for natural history and expedition documentaries. When not doing this I also work as an expedition guide and with voluntary conservation diving projects. I have worked in both polar regions, diving in multiple locations from open water to cutting holes through ice! Tasks include scientific sampling, monitoring, sound recording, filming, and (when guiding) also giving lectures and taking people zodiac exploring and snorkeling.

What keeps you going?

I feel very privileged to do what I do. I have worked hard to gain the skills and experience. I love to be in conditions that continuously push my capabilities and learning. I meet incredible people. I witness such wonderful sights. I do what I do because I want to feel like I can make a small difference to other people’s access, understanding and acknowledgment of the natural world and inspire more people to want to act to protect it.

What’s your message to the world?

Please engage, please get outside, keep learning and take moments in the day to just stop and take in what is around you.
