Dr Renuka Badhe, co-founder of the Women in Polar Science network, has been awarded the 2026 SCAR Medal!
The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) has announced the three recipients of the 2026 SCAR Medals, recognising outstanding achievement in Antarctic research, international coordination, and science communication.
Congratulations to the awardees:
Prof Peter Convey (British Antarctic Survey, UK) – 2026 SCAR Medal for Excellence in Antarctic Research
Dr Renuka Badhe (Secretary General EuroGOOS) – 2026 SCAR Medal for International Scientific Coordination
Prof Silvia Dotta (UFABC – Universidade Federal do ABC, Brazil) – 2026 SCAR Medal for Education and Communication
The medals will be officially presented at the #SCAR2026 Closing Ceremony.
